The international contemporary choreography festival “CONTEXT. Diana Vishneva” was created in 2013. Over these years, it has grown from a three-day festival to a week forum with an extensive programme in Moscow (12—15 November) and Saint Petersburg (16—19 November).

On the first anniversary, the audience is expecting performances from the UK, the US, Germany, and Netherlands leading dance companies; the final competition between young choreographers; public talks; movie screenings. This year is marked with the collaboration with the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre which will present the premier of the night “Stravinsky ballets” in Moscow.

Diana Vishneva will perform the final pas de deux from Goyo Montero’s ballet “Sleeping beauty”, with the Nuremberg Ballet premier dancer Oscar Alonsoat the gala evenings in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and the main role in Vladimir Varnava’s “Petrushka” ballet at the “Stravinsky Ballets” evening. The Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre will present the world premier “Asunder” . A special guest in Saint Petersburg — The Dutch National Ballet. At the festival’s gala-closing in the Mariinsky Theatre, the audience will see the Russian premier of the “Piano concert №1” by one of the leading Russian choreographersneoclassicists Alexey Ratmansky to the music by Dmitry Shostakovich and Sarcasmen’s work in the production by Hans van Manen.

Alongside with the international programme, the festival continues to involve young talented choreographers and dancers. That’s why ContextLab, the evening of young choreographers, that will take place in Erarta on 16 November, will become one of the key events of the festival. 16+.
