The ballet company from the Mariinsky Theatre’s Primorsky branch is coming to St. Petersburg with some new productions.

From 17 to 21 January the leading soloists from the Vladivostok theatre will perform four superb ballets on the Mariinsky’s historic stage: “Le Corsair”, “Carmen Suite”, “The Prodigal Son” and “Giselle”.

These ballets feature classic choreography arranged by the Primorsky theatre’s chief ballet master Eldar Aliev. An exciting story of pirates, shipwrecks and love that overcomes incredible obstacles is the theme of Adolph Adan’s ballet “Le Corsair”. The production also includes music by Cesare Pugni, Leo Delibes, Riccardo Drigo and Peter of Oldenburg (17, 18 and 20 January). 6+.

Adolph Adan’s “Giselle”, one of the best-known French romantic ballets, is part of the Mariinsky Theatre’s golden collection. It will be performed by the Mariinsky’s own company and the visiting dancers on 21 January at 2 pm and 7.30 pm. 6+.

The highlights of the tour will be two 20th century ballets: “Carmen Suite” by Georges Bizet–Rodion Shchedrin choreographed by Alberto Alonso and Sergey Prokofiev’s “The Prodigal Son” with choreography by George Balanchine can be seen on 19 and 20 January. 12+.
