Nigel Kennedy, a pupil of the legendary Yehudi Menuhin and the French jazz violinist Stéphane Grappelli, revolutionized violin playing, shocking academic circles with his rock ‘n’ roll treatment of the classics and classical approach to rock music.

He became world-famous in 1989 after the release of his recording of Vivaldi’s “The Seasons” with the English Chamber Orchestra. The album spent six months at the top of the classical “charts” in Britain and entered the Guinness Book of Records as the best-selling classical recording of all time. On 18 January in the Philharmonic Great Hall Nigel Kennedy will perform “The New Seasons”, his latest interpretation of Vivaldi’s classic work. The maestro says: “I hope this new approach will bring new and more profound enjoyment of this wonderful music”.
