Nothing Straightforward: , Saint-Petersburg

The menu of the recently opened “Too Chi” gastrobar is a blend of Asian, Mediterranean and Latin American cuisine.

Head chef Andrey Solodin offers dim sums (with prawns and caviar or with salmon and toothfish), ceviche (of dorado or salmon), tartares (tuna, beef or lamb), tom yam, salad with stracciatella and Baku tomatoes, Singaporean noodles with prawns, sea bass in sweet-and-sour sauce, chicken with mini-sweetcorns, panna cotta and even Peking Duck. However, customers may be even more impressed by the cocktail menu devised by the well-known mixologist Semyon (Sam) Konyakhin. There are only nine cocktails, but there is nothing straightforward about them. For example, “Toochi Sour” contains kaffir lime leaves and gin mixed with almond syrup, falernum and lime fresh, and “Mr. Apple” is apple distillate and almond liqueur mixed with hibiscus, fresh lemon and bitter elder.
