“Usadba Jazz”, one of the most popular open-air musical events in the country, will be held at the Kirov Central Park of Culture and Relaxation on 28 July.

Top of the bill this year will be the British singer Joss Stone, holder of a Grammy award and the youngest artist to break into the British charts. She has been called “the sensation of the decade” and “the famous barefoot dancer” (she almost always performs with nothing on her feet). Her distinctive voice — powerful and impetuous with red-hot overtones — is in sharp contrast with her outward appearance of an elegant “English rose”.

The Tbilisi group Mgzavrebi (“Passengers” or “Wanderers” in Georgian) will provide the opportunity to hear traditional Georgian melodies in a modern and accessible musical form. Markscheider Kunst, who started out as a rockabilly group, will continue their popularization of ethnic music. The St. Petersburg jazz singer Lera Gehner and saxophonist Alexey Popov will perform an assortment of funk, soul, blues, reggae and disco music. The pianist, organist and keyboard player Masayuki Hirano, better known by his stage name Big Yuki, will play futuristic music in which technology and human performance are bound in one powerful knot. The Rohey Quartet — graduates of the Trondheim Jazz Conservatory in Norway, will perform contemporary omnivorous urbanistic jazz.

The jazz will be played in three venues: “Parterre”, “Aristocrat” and “Jazz Club”. The programme will also include a market with works by local designers, a food court, sports competitions, quests and a children's playground (children under ten will be admitted to the festival free of charge).
