The largest museum of Russian art in the world, opened in 1898. The main collection is housed in the Mikhailovsky Palace, built by the architect Rossi in 1825. It contains works by Rublev, Levitsky, Bryullov, Repin, Levitan and other outstanding masters of national art. New permanent display: “Decorative Applied Art in Russia. 20th Century”.
