The museum is located in the historic centre of St. Petersburg in the old mansions of the ballerina Matilda Kshesinskaya and Baron Brant. Today the museum is a gallery of exhibitions in memorial and historical interiors, reflecting the most important events in Russian political history from the 19th to 21st centuries. The main characters in the new displays are the Soviet leaders: Lenin, Stalin, Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Gorbachev, etc.
