The multimedia exhibition complex opened in 2003, in time for St. Petersburg’s tercentenary, in the building that was once the city’s main waterworks, a unique monument of 19th century industrial architecture. There are three displays: “St. Petersburg’s World of Water”, “St. Petersburg’s Underground World” and “Universe of Water”, as well as a Children’s Ecological Centre — a modern space for children and teenagers offering edutainment based on school lessons.

The exhibitions can be visited in the museum opening hours; guided excursions for individuals are offered according to the timetable (see the Museum’s website). Excursions are in Russian (call 8 (812) 438 4325, 438 4301 or 275 4325 to order excursions in English).
